Head out on the road and explore the magnificent foothills scenery and enjoy the best burgers, burritos, views and brews you can find in Alberta.

Start the day out in Turner Valley, on Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) just south of Calgary by rolling in for breakfast at the popular Chukwagon cafe, or if you get off to a late start, pull up to Motoburrito, a fun Mexican-style food truck in Turner Valley.

Just down the road, take a stroll through Black Diamond and enjoy eclectic boutique shopping, art galleries, a brewery, or the collection of historical plaques on most buildings.

After lunch, head back out down beautiful Highway 22 and follow the signs south to Longview. Here you can stop to pick up some world-famous Longview Jerky, or enjoy the old ranching vibe on the patio at the the Twin Cities Hotel and Saloon.  Heading south out of town, see if you can spot the fence row topped with a mile or two of ball caps.

Just south of Longview is the historic Bar U Ranch where you can trade your wheels for a wagon ride as you shift gears, slow down and wander the historic buildings of this famous ranch.

From Bar U, you can choose to cruise down to Highway 533, then loop over to Nanton and if you time your trip just right you will feel the roar of the Bomber Command Museum of Canada’s mighty Lancaster Bomber engines during one of the museum’s popular engine runs.  Then back towards Calgary via Hwy 2 with stunning mountain vistas on the Western horizon.
