Hit the road in the foothills and explore the magnificent and majestic scenery of the Rocky Mountains.

If you head out early, you can start with a breakfast at the famous Chuckwagon Cafe in Turner Valley. If you're rolling in a bit later, then pull up to Motoburrito, a fun Mexican-style food truck in this cool little town known for it's food.

Just down the road, you can walk your breakfast/lunch off with a stroll through Black Diamond. Offering an eclectic shopping experience, art galleries, a brewery, and a collection of historical plaques you'll find on most buildings you visit.

After lunch, head back out down the beautiful Cowboy Trail to Longview. Here you can stop to pick up some world-famous Longview Jerky, or enjoy the old ranching vibe on the patio at the the Twin Cities Hotel and Saloon.  When you're ready, head south out of town and be sure to keep an eye out for a few miles of fence topped with baseball caps.

Just south of Longview is the historic Bar U Ranch where you can trade your wheels for a wagon ride as you shift gears, slow down and wander the historic buildings and land of this famous ranch. By doing so, you'll walk in the same steps of a royal prince and infamous outlaw in the same day.

When departing Bar U Ranch you can choose one of two routes to get to our next destination. It's a shorter ride across highway 540, however the extra 15 minutes down and across highway 533 offers some pretty nice views and riding.
No matter how you get to Nanton, your next stop is The Bomber Command Museum.

Honouring those who served with Bomber Command during WWII, you can arrange a guided tour or walk through the museum at your own pace. You'll learn about the people and planes of Bomber Command through the incredible collection of artifacts, archives, videos, simulators, and interpretive displays.
Be sure to check their website for guided tours or features that need to be booked ahead of time. You don't want to miss out!

From the museum, you can either stay in Nanton for a bite or if you're not quite there yet - hit the road north to High River and stop at The Hitchin Post before making your way home.

Create your own foothills story and head out on the road and explore the magnificent foothills scenery and enjoy the best burgers, burritos, views and brews you can find in Alberta.
