River Retreat Kananaskis is a beautiful destination for travellers along the Cowboy Trail. When you arrive at the retreat, you will be welcomed and in awe of the natural vistas surrounding the property. Nestled along the Highwood River, you will find spacious private campsites large enough to host a 50-foot trailer or motorhome. Each has a fire pit and picnic tables made from local barn wood from homesteads dating back to the 1900s. The resort offers meandering pathways and benches for you to relax and enjoy. The Highwood River offers world-class fishing, kayaking, refreshing swims, and peaceful water sounds. Pets are welcome! Longview has many historical sites including The Bar-U-Ranch National Historical Site. Longview also has great family-owned restaurants that feature Alberta beef and other local dishes. The owners Todd and Jax have future plans to expand to offer overnight accommodations to include boutique guest rooms and quaint cabins. They will be creating an outdoor bar with take-out food and a beautiful indoor restaurant and lounge. Weddings and intimate group gatherings will be on the list to accommodate. The highway turns into Highway 40 which is a beautiful scenic route travelling to Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff, and Lake Louise in pursuit of a relaxing retreat they operate as an adult-only resort making it very peaceful.
