Christmas is the most magical time of year. Christmas lights, hot chocolate, delicious treats and spoiling the ones you love with the perfect gifts are just some of the things that make Christmas wonderful.
If you love Christmas as much as we do, the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market, presented by TELUS, is the best place to get your Christmas fix. The Christmas Market is held over three weekends in 2019, November 15-17, November 22-24 and November 29-December 1.
Here’s what to expect!
Admission is $10 if you pre-purchase online and $12 if you purchase tickets at the gate. Children (12 and under) and Seniors (65+) are free. Multi-day passes (9 admissions) are also available for $72. Parking is plentiful and is free! If you want to enjoy a closer parking spot, there is one paid lot, which is $10 for the spot. This will get you close to the action for a pretty nominal fee. There is also a shuttle bus which takes you from the train to Spruce Meadows throughout the day.
Local, local and more local
There’s nothing better than knowing that what you buy directly supports local businesses. The Spruce Meadows Christmas Market features over 300 vendors with local flair, including homemade jams, freshly baked Christmas treats, handmade clothing, handcrafted leather goods and more – there is truly something for everyone!
Photos with Reindeer
That’s right – photos, with real reindeer! Stop by Reindeer Alley to see some of Santa’s finest helpers and finish off the experience with a family photo with the reindeer. We’ve also been told that the one-and-only Rudolph is calling Reindeer Alley home during the Christmas Market. Be sure to stop in and say hello.
Delicious International Eats
What would Christmas be without a little indulgence. Great Events Catering has put together an International Menu full of delightful snacks and meals. From tasty curries to yummy perogies, there’s enough selection to please every palate. Make your day extra special with a coffee and Bailey’s – we can’t think of anything better!
The entertainment options at the Christmas Market never disappoint! Tap your toe to the music of the Calgary Fiddlers, experience Polish, Italian, Croatian and Russian song and dance, take in the beautiful ballet of Jeunesse Classique Ballet and more. Entertainment is included in admission and is located on the Calgary Herald Mainstage in the Equi-Plex. To top it off, roaming carolers will be spreading Christmas cheer throughout the day.
Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation 50/50 Raffles
You could win big with the 50/50 raffles, held each day of the Christmas Market. Take a bite out of your Christmas expenses by winning half of the jackpot – and don’t feel too bad if you lose. Half of the money collected will go to Rural Food Banks. We call that a win-win!
So get your walking shoes on, hop in your car with your besties and visit the Spruce Meadows Christmas Market to start the season right!
